The Oklahoma-Kansas baseball game on Friday night was called due to rain in the sixth inning. The game will resume on Saturday.

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Oklahoma-Kansas baseball game on Friday night was called with two outs in the top of the sixth inning with Kansas leading 3-2. OU had runners on second and third base and Brandon Jones had a 1-1 count when lightning and rain overook KU's Hoglund Ballpark. After a 40-minute delay, it was determined that the game will resume on Saturday at 1 p.m.

In the first frame, Jason Fransz ripped a triple over the head of right fielder Matt Tribble, but the Jayhawks got out of the inning unharmed. Fransz singled up the middle in the third inning, bringing home Ryan Richardson, who doubled down the left field line and extended his hitting streak to eight, to give the Sooners a 1-0 lead.

KU broke through in the third inning, scoring three runs on four hits, including doubles in consecutive at bats by Tribble and Casey Spanish, to take a 3-1 lead. The Sooners made it 3-2 in the fifth after Eddie Cornejo doubled down the left field line and scored Reggie Willits from first base.

Oklahoma and the Jayhawks will battle for a second time on Saturday upon completion of the first contest. David Purcey (4-3) will make the start for the Sooners. OU and KU will wrap up the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. OU will then travel to Wichita, Kan., and battle the No. 10 Wichita State Shockers on Monday at 7 p.m. The game had been scheduled as a tentative make-up game and since both teams can play an extra game under the NCAA's 56-game rule, the contest will take place.
