FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The No. 24 Oklahoma baseball team stormed out to a 6-0 lead against Arkansas on Tuesday night at Baum Field, but the Razorbacks battled back to eventually take the lead and earn a 9-6 win. Arkansas batted around its lineup and enjoyed a five-run sixth inning and the Sooners were unable to re-take the lead. UA improved to 18-11, while Oklahoma has now lost four of its last five contests and fell to 19-13 on the year.

"When you're up by six runs in the third inning, you usually win the ball game," said Oklahoma head coach Larry Cochell. "We just didn't pitch well and we made three huge mistakes which gave up runs. This is a hard lesson for us to learn."

Despite striking out five batters in two innings, Evan Greusel (3-2) took the loss for Oklahoma after giving up two unearned runs on two hits. Austin Mix got the start for OU and pitched five innings, allowed five runs on six hits and struck out four Hogs. David Purcey also made a relief appearance, but the Razorbacks managed to score two unearned runs on the freshman in his one inning of work.

Chris Jakubauskas got OU off to a fast start with a two-run double down the left field line in the first inning, scoring Eddie Cornejo and Jason Fransz. Catcher Spencer Wyman led off the second and extended OU's lead to three with a first-pitch, solo home run off the foul pole in right field.

OU added three more runs in the third frame to push its lead to 6-0. Jakubauskas smacked another double to drive in a run and then Wyman poked a base hit into center field to score two more. Arkansas answered with two runs of in its half of the third to make the score 6-2.

Then in the sixth, the Hogs exploded for five runs, including a two-run home run by Ryan Fox off of Mix, to take a 7-6 lead. Oklahoma was retired in order in both the seventh and eighth innings, and Arkansas added two more tallies in the eighth for the final margin.

Jakubauskas entered today's contest with two doubles on the season and doubled that figure to four. The senior from Upland, Calif., went 3-for-4 in tonight's contest with three runs batted in. Wyman's home run was his third of the season and the sophomore went 2-for-4 with three RBI versus the Hogs.

Tonight's loss evens the home-and-home season series between the clubs at one game apiece. Mix picked up a win on March 12 as OU defeated UA 7-1 at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman. The attendance at Baum Field was 2,114.

Oklahoma will host this year's version of the Red River Rivalry this weekend, as Texas visits L. Dale Mitchell Park for a three-game set. Game times are set for 6:35 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
