NORMAN, Okla. - Designated hitter Tyler Johnson drove in four runs and starting pitcher Buddy Blair gave up one run in five innings as the Oklahoma baseball team knocked off Southeast Missouri State 18-5 today in front of 695 fans at L. Dale Mitchell Park to earn the three-game series sweep. The Sooners collected 19 hits and blasted five home runs while improving to 5-1 on the year while the Indians fell to 0-3.

The OU bats were in action early as the Sooners posted five runs in the first inning. Leftfielder Jason Fransz drove in centerfielder Reggie Willits with a sacrifice fly before Johnson and rightfielder Chris Jakubauskas belted two-run homers. The roundtrippers were the second for each player on the season.

Oklahoma added a run in the third on a Jakubauskas single that plated Fransz. After a Southeast Missouri State run in the top of the fourth, OU continued its assault in the bottom of the inning with seven more runs on seven hits. Highlighting the inning were two-run doubles by Johnson and third baseman Matt Bose, and a two-run single by shortstop Denver Kitch.

The Sooners produced another big inning in the sixth with three homers and five more runs. Reserve catcher Ryan Richardson led off the frame with a solo shot before first baseman Charlie Frasier drove in Matt Arkison and Matt Fisher with his third home run of the season. Freshman Brandon Jones cranked his first career homer, a solo blast, to cap the OU scoring. Jones, who also played receiver and punt returner for the OU football team last fall, singled in the fifth after replacing Willits in centerfield and finished 2-for-3 on the day.

Johnson went 2-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs and two runs while Kitch went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Jakubauskas was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a pair of runs.

Southeast Missouri State shortstop Zach Borowiak accounted for three of the Tigers' runs with a solo homer in the seventh and a two-out, two-run single in the eighth.

Blair threw five complete innings and surrendered five hits, two walks and one earned run while striking out one. The sophomore lefty improved to 2-0 this year and his ERA now stands at 1.00. Austin Mix gave up a run in two innings of relief while Curtis White and Mark Roberts threw the eighth and ninth innings, respectively. White gave up two runs on four hits and a walk while Roberts surrendered an unearned run on one hit.

The Indians' Donnie Fuller pitched three innings and took the loss after giving up seven runs, all earned, on six hits and three walks.
