NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma baseball combined stellar hitting and pitching in a 10-1 victory over Southeast Missouri State Saturday at L. Dale Mitchell Field. The Sooners (4-1) were led by starting pitcher Rocky Cherry and an offense that hit three home runs. Cherry, a senior from Coppell, Texas, allowed one hit over seven innings to go along with eight strikeouts as the Sooners take the first two games of the series with the Indians (0-2).

The Sooners broke it open in the bottom of the fourth with four runs to take a commanding 6-0 lead. Redshirt freshman Tyler Johnson hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot, and the Sooners added two more unearned runs in the inning.

Junior Jason Fransz and freshman Matt Bose added solo home runs to help OU build a 10-0 lead going into the top of the ninth. However, Southeast Missouri State spoiled Oklahoma's bid for a shutout when Vern Hatton hit an RBI double.

The Indians were hurt by their defense as they committed three errors and gave up four unearned runs. Ryan Cheo took the loss for Southeat Missouri State.

Senior Charlie Frasier added two runs batted in for Oklahoma, whose 4-1 start to the year is its first since 1999.

The two teams conclude the weekend series on Sunday at noon at L. Dale Mitchell Field.
