NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma baseball team moved to 3-1 on the young season as it pulled out a 5-4 victory over Southeast Missouri State (0-1) in ten innings of play Friday in front of 557 fans at L. Dale Mitchell Field. Junior Matt Arkison scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the inning on an errant throw. Sophomore Mark Roberts picked up the victory for his first win of the year while Mark Frazier took the loss for the Indians. This meeting was the first ever between the two schools.

OU took a 2-0 lead after two innings on junior Jason Fransz's RBI double in the first and sophomore Denver Kitch's RBI groundout in the second.

However, Southeast Missouri State scored four runs in the fourth inning to take the lead. The inning was fueled by two bases loaded walks and an RBI single by the Indians' Tristen McDonald.

The Sooners tied it up in the bottom in fifth when sophomore catcher Spencer Wyman hit a two-run, bases-loaded single.

From then on, the game was dominated by the teams' relief pitchers. For Oklahoma, freshman David Purcey pitched three and two-thirds innings of no-run baseball with five strikeouts while Roberts, the game's winning pitcher, went two and a third and struck out two. Meanwhile, Frazier allowed just one unearned run despite taking the loss for Southeast Missouri State.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m. at L. Dale Mitchell Field.
