FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Junior Joey McNair led the Sooner cross country team to an 11th place finish at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Invitational Saturday morning at the Arkansas Cross Country course at Agri Park.

McNair finished the 10K race with a 31:02, a career best for the Sooner from Bartlesville. All seven Sooner runners posted career bests in the race. Junior Darren Hutchins of Choctaw lowered his career best in the 10K by more than two minutes and three Sooner runners posted better times than OU's best time in the meet last year.

"I was pleased with the personal bests and the times we posted today," said OU cross country coach Rodney Rothoff. "We are farther along physically than we are mentally. They all ran personal bests but they can do better. The performance today bodes well for the championship part of our season."

The Sooners will return to competition in two weeks when they travel to Columbia, Mo., for the Big 12 Championship.
