Senior Michael McNamara won the men's collegiate elite division of the USATF Pole Vault Summit with an indoor career best.

RENO, Nev. - Senior Michael McNamara won the men's collegiate elite division and sophomore Leslie Dunlap finished fourth in the women's collegiate elite division at the USATF Pole Vault Summit late Saturday night. In the process, both established indoor career best marks and met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard.

McNamara cleared 17-8.5 to win the men's title. The height was his career best by 1.5 inches and was eight inches better than his first height this season, 17-0.5, which also met the provisional mark. Dunlap's vault of 13-1.5 was more than two inches better than her previous career best and also was an improvement of six inches over her first vault of the season, 12-6.25, which also met the NCAA provisional mark.

Both McNamara and Dunlap's efforts are among the best in the Big 12 Conference and the nation through the early meets of the indoor season.

For the Sooner men, Michael Westlund cleared 16-7 in the men's collegiate elite division but final standings had not been released for all divisions as of Sunday afternoon. Brett Corlett did not record a height and Robin Hanna was injured prior to the start of competition and did not compete.

For the Sooner women, a pair of OU freshmen, Lindsey Bourne and Jamie Lillie, also competed in the Summit for the first time in their careers. Bourne cleared 11-9.5, an OU career best, and Lillie registered a 10-2.

Sooner volunteer coach Kurt Hanna cleared 18-0 to finish in the fop five in Friday's elite division competition.

More than 1,000 vaulters competed in the two-day Summit with competition in seven divisions.

The entire Sooner track and field team returns to competition Saturday when OU hosts the OU Classic. Action will begin at 10 a.m. at the Mosier Indoor Facility.
