Sooner Cross Country Shows Improvement At OSU :: Every OU woman sets a season best in the two-mile race.

STILLWATER, Okla. - Kelli O'Rourke finished sixth with an 11:44 to lead the OU women in a cross country two-team meet at Oklahoma State Saturday. Brandon Kissack led the Sooner men, finishing fifth in the three-mile event with a 14:40. OSU won the event, scoring 15 points to 47 for the OU women and 16 points to 49 for the Sooner men.
Janine Brown finished first in the women's race for OSU with a two-mile time of 11:28.05 and Jason Woolhouse led the Cowboy men with a three-mile time of 14:11.59.
"I was pleased overall with the way we competed today," said Sooner coach Todd Maycumber. "It was a very low key meet, mainly a chance to run against two nationally ranked teams and get a look at the course before we head to Stillwater for the Cowboy Jamboree next Saturday. All the women set season bests in the two mile and the men have never run as well as a group in Stillwater.
"Brandon Kissack, once again, was our leader for the men. He is taking the role of a senior leader as the season progresses. For the women, Jenny Ledford ran a gutsy race. We are continuing to improve every time we run and as a coach that is what you want to see over a season," Maycumber added.
Ledford dropped her season best in the two mile by one minute. Aisha Stringer dropped hers by 46 seconds and Krista Rowe dropped hers by 39 seconds. Other significant changes in season bests were made by Emily Leonard (30 seconds) and Kim Thomas (23 seconds). This marked the third time this season for the women to run a two-mile race. For the men, all the times were season bests since this marked the first (and only) time this season for the men to run a three-mile race.
The Sooners will travel back to Stillwater for the Cowboy Jamboree next Saturday.
