Sooners and Cowgirls to Square Off in 100-Inning Softball Game at Hall of Fame Stadium

Bedlam Rivals Will Use Funds For Softball Programs

Sept. 14, 1999

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University softball teams will play in a 100-inning game starting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Don Porter Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.

The event is free to the public and is a fundraiser for both softball programs. OU will use the funds for its Adopt-A-Sooner program, while OSU will use the money to help pay for its new stadium, which is under construction. "I hope to use this game more as a measuring stick of where this new team is and what we have to work with right now," said OU head coach Patty Gasso. "It will be great to see how we react in a game situation and to get an overall view of the players, especially the newcomers."

Last year, OU dominated the Cowgirls. The Sooners won all four meetings, including the last regular-season game when OU defeated OSU, 6-2, in Stillwater to claim the Big 12 Conference championship. The Sooners finished with an 11-3 conference record and a 40-16 overall record. They also advanced to their sixth straight NCAA Championship.
