OKLAHOMA CITY — The second game of the series between Oklahoma and Tennessee on Friday evening was suspended in the bottom of the seventh due to lightning and will resume at 1 p.m. CT Saturday.
The game will resume in the bottom of the seventh with Tennessee winning 5-3 and the Sooners at the plate with one out and one runner on base. The series finale will begin approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of game two.
The Sooners (31-19, 13-15 SEC) took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run home run from Camden Johnson and groundout from Trey Gambill.
The Volunteers (36-18, 14-14) rattled off five runs to take a 5-3 lead into the delay. A four-run third inning gave the visitors the lead, powered by a pair of RBI singles and a run-scoring triple. To the fifth, the Vols added an unearned run after an error at third allowed a run to score.
The Sooners are paced in the game by Camden Johnson's 2-for-3, two RBI start. On the mound, freshman right-handed pitcher Xander Mercurius went five innings in his first start of the season, striking out six while surrendering five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks.
