Sooners Complete Season Sweep of DBU with 9-3 Win

April 06, 2026 | Baseball

DALLAS, Texas — No. 16 Oklahoma completed the season sweep of Dallas Baptist with a 9-3 win Monday night at Horner Ballpark in Dallas.

The OU (22-10) offense came out swinging, registering season highs of eight extra-base hits and six doubles on the night. Brendan Brock and Nolan Stevens hit consecutive home runs in the third inning to break the game open.

On the bump, starting right-handed pitcher Michael Catalano (W, 3-2) continued his hot midweek run, going a career-long six innings and striking out five. The Frisco product surrendered just four hits in his six shutout innings to go with one walk.

After giving up three hits in the first inning, Catalano surrendered just one hit his final five innings, putting the Patriots down in order in three frames.

OU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on a Brendan Brock RBI single to left after Trey Gambill had a two-out double.

To the third inning, OU put up a five spot on back-to-back home runs from Brock and Stevens and a two-run base hit from Drew Dickerson. It was Brock's team-leading eighth homer of the season and Stevens' fourth. It was the second time this season OU has hit consecutive blasts.

The Sooners added three more in the fifth on a two-run double from Jason Walk and sac fly from Jaxon Willits to make it 9-0.

The Patriots (18-15) broke up the shutout in the seventh on a three-run home run from Cooper Neville.

Mason Bixby entered in the eighth and put DBU down in order in his two innings, including striking out the side in the ninth.

It was OU's first season sweep of Dallas Baptist since 2010 and first win in Dallas since 2023.
