NORMAN -- Oklahoma freshman Johan Rodriguez has been named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon. Rodriguez improved his spring singles record to 10-4 with a 6-2, 6-3 win over LSU's Alessio Vasquez and a ranked win over Texas' No. 65 Abel Forger, 6-3, 6-0. The result marked Rodriguez's third ranked singles win of his collegiate career after arriving in Norman in the fall. His victory over Vasquez contributed to Oklahoma's three points against LSU despite ultimately dropping the dual.

He also played a pivotal role in the Sooners' upset victory over No. 3 Texas, where he claimed the first singles match over Forger to notch OU's second point of the dual. His result over No. 65 Forger came in dominant fashion, as Rodriguez only dropped three games in the match.

The Colombia native has tallied four straight wins on the singles side of competition and is 6-1 at the four line. Rodriguez returned to the doubles court and paired up with teammate Asahi Harazaki. Though the match went unfinished, Rodriguez and Harazaki led the match 5-4 when play was stalled after courts one and two went in OU's favor.

Rodriguez has broken back into the ITA singles rankings and currently sits at the No. 108 spot. He remains ranked with teammate Orel Kimhi and the pair is No. 82 as of March 17.
