NORMAN — University of Oklahoma women's tennis freshman Evialina Laskevich was named Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week on Wednesday following her performance in the Sooners' road victories over No. 7 Tennessee and Kentucky last week, sharing the honor with Vanderbilt's Erin Pearce.

Ranked No. 71 in singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, Laskevich earns OU's first conference weekly honor of the season.

A native of Minsk, Belarus, Laskevich went undefeated in singles and doubles to help Oklahoma secure a 4-3 upset over the seventh-ranked Volunteers and a 4-0 sweep of Kentucky. Competing from the top singles spot, Laskevich rallied for a three-set victory over Tennessee's Katrina Scott, winning 2-6, 6-1, 6-4. She followed with a straight-set win over No. 112 Julia Zhu of Kentucky, 6-4, 6-2, her third ranked singles victory of the spring.

Laskevich also contributed in doubles play, teaming with fellow freshman Edda Mamedova for a 6-4 win over Tennessee's Catherine Aulia and Katrina Scott on Friday night before earning a dominant 6-1 victory over Kentucky's Reese Sager and Asuncion Jadue on Sunday.

The Sooners continue SEC play this week as Oklahoma returns to the Headington Family Tennis Center looking to build on its conference momentum.
