NORMAN – After posting back-to-back scores of 198-plus on the weekend, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team remained the No. 1 team in the nation for the third week in a row.
The Sooners are joined in the top five by three other SEC opponents: No. 2 LSU (197.520), No. 3 Alabama (197.435) and No. 5 Florida (197.360). UCLA is No. 4 with a 197.404 average.
On the events, the Sooners are the top squad on both vault (49.558) and beam (49.517). OU jumped to No. 3 on floor (49.458) after posting a season-high 49.750 on Sunday at the Metroplex Challenge and No. 4 on bars (49.346).
A total of eight gymnasts hold 17 individual rankings on the events and in the all-around, including six spots in the top ten. Three Sooners are ranked in the all-around with
Addison Fatta leading the way at No. 6 (39.475).
Lily Pederson is No. 13 (39.383) and
Mackenzie Estep is No. 25 (39.300).
The Sooners hold seven individual rankings on vault with Fatta and Estep tied at No. 2 (9.933).
Elle Mueller (9.906) and
Keira Wells (9.900) also hold top 10 marks coming in at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively.
Faith Torrez (9.883) is No. 11,
Hannah Scheible (9.875) is No. 15 and
Elizabeth Blessey (9.860) is No. 24.
Four athletes are ranked on beam with Torrez holding the No. 2 spot with a 9.954 average. Fatta and Elle Murphy are tied at No. 13 (9.896) and Wells (9.887) is No. 18.
Estep is No. 16 on bars with a 9.887 average, the only Sooner to be ranked on the event. The freshman is also ranked on floor where she and Mueller are tied at No. 20 (9.900).
The Sooners return to action Friday night against No. 5 Florida in the Stephen O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla. The meet is scheduled for a 5:45 p.m. CT start on ESPN2
