OU Student-Athletes Post Collective 3.30 GPA, Extend 3.0 Streak to 28 Semesters

February 05, 2026 | Athletics

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma student-athletes continued their tradition of academic excellence this past fall by earning a 3.30 cumulative GPA, the OU Athletics Department announced Thursday. The performance fell just shy of the single-semester school record of 3.31 set in spring 2025 and represents the 28th consecutive semester OU student-athletes maintained a GPA above 3.0.

OU's streak of student-athletes posting at least a 3.0 GPA began in spring 2012. The 3.30 cumulative fall GPA reflects the overall academic performance of those student-athletes from their first semester of collegiate enrollment through the completion of the fall 2025 term.

For the third consecutive semester, all 19 of OU's athletics teams earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, including women's gymnastics, which led all teams with a 3.70. Sports that set a record for their program were men's basketball (3.13), men's gymnastics (3.35), rowing (3.62) and softball (3.52).

"Our student-athletes simply amaze me," said OU Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione. "They dedicate so much of their time, focus and energy to their athletics endeavors, yet exhibit great discipline and dedication by continuing to thrive and raise the bar in the classroom. Their commitment to learning and to earning a college degree is positioning them for a fulfilling life once they leave campus.

"I also want to tip my cap to our academic staff, whose efforts in putting and keeping our student-athletes on a successful academic path are commendable, especially in an era where there is so much student-athlete movement year to year. Job very well done."

Following are some additional fall semester academic accomplishments of OU student-athletes:

• Of OU's 520 student-athletes, 396 (76%) earned a 3.00 or higher fall 2025 semester GPA.

• A total of 109 student-athletes (21%) registered a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall 2025 semester.

• OU student-athletes have collectively earned a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher in 15 of the last 16 semesters and a 3.20 or higher each of the last eight semesters.
