NORMAN — The Oklahoma baseball team has moved its originally-scheduled home opener from Tuesday, Feb. 17 vs. New Mexico State in Norman to Monday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. CT at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
The change comes after last week's winter weather conditions delayed outfield construction at Kimrey Family Stadium in Norman.
"The extra few days will greatly benefit our construction crews after the winter storm we had," said OU head coach Skip Johnson. "We're extremely appreciative of their commitment to finishing this step of the project for us to play on our home field this season.
"Any time you get the chance to play in a Major League ballpark and world-class facility like Globe Life Field you take advantage of that opportunity," continued Johnson. "We'll extend our opening-weekend stay in Arlington and be ready for the home opener in front of Sooner Nation on Friday the 20th."
All tickets for the game at Globe Life Field will be general admission and are on sale now for $15 at CollegeBaseballSeries.com. Prices are subject to applicable taxes and fees. Livestream information will be announced at a later time.
Fans that purchased single-game tickets for the game in Norman may exchange it for a ticket to any other home non-conference game. The ticket office will contact these customers by email or phone.
The Sooners will now open their home slate at Kimrey Family Stadium, formerly L. Dale Mitchell Park, on Friday, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. CT vs. Coppin State, the first of a three-game weekend set.
Tickets for all home games at Kimrey Family Stadium are available for purchase at SoonerSports.com/tickets or by calling the OU Athletics Ticket Office by phone at 405-325-2424.
