NORMAN — The No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team will host its "Country for a Cause" meet on Friday against No. 15 Auburn at 6:30 p.m. CT.
During team introductions, each student-athlete will wear a cowboy hat in the color that represents a cause they have identified as important to them. Fans are encouraged to join the team in celebrating their own causes and can pick up colored ribbons on the concourse ahead of the meet to show their support, as well.
The team will be representing 12 different causes Friday night.
Ella Murphy,
Aspen Lenczner and
Blakely Roten will be wearing pink hats for breast cancer awareness.
Addison Fatta will wear a purple hat to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease, while
Kamila Pawlak will wear yellow to support bladder cancer awareness.
Elle Mueller and
Faith Torrez will wear light blue to raise awareness for autism.
Caitlin Smith will wear a purple hat to raise awareness for animal conservation.
A dark blue hat will be worn by
Elizabeth Blessey to spotlight colon cancer awareness, and Ava Siegfedt will wear a pink hat to raise awareness for endometrial cancer.
Lily Pederson will be wearing a green hat to raise awareness for mental health, and yellow will be worn by
Kelsey Slade to honor pediatric cancer patients. Nicole Desomnd will wear a dark blue hat to show appreciation for educators, and
Keira Wells will wear a light blue hat to raise awareness for prostate cancer.
Mackenzie Estep,
Hannah Scheible and
Hurley Snow will wear red, white and blue in honor of veterans and first responders.
