NORMAN – University of Oklahoma head women's basketball coach
Jennie Baranczyk has been named to the Werner Ladder Naismith Women's College Coach of the Year Watch List, presented by AXIA Time, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Wednesday.
Now in her fifth season at Oklahoma, Baranczyk has been named to the 15-coach watch list three times (2022, 2024, 2026).
Under Baranczyk in 2025-26, Oklahoma opened the season ranked No. 6 in the preseason AP Top 25, the program's highest preseason ranking since 2009. The Sooners climbed as high as No. 5 earlier this season and currently sit at No. 11 with a 19-6 overall record.
Baranczyk has guided Oklahoma to 10 wins over NET top-100 opponents, including three over AP Top 25 teams. Highlighting the resume is a home victory over then-No. 2 South Carolina, which remains the Gamecocks' only loss in SEC play this season.
Baranczyk has also overseen the development of two Naismith Trophy late-season watch list selections in
Raegan Beers and
Aaliyah Chavez. The duo are also top-10 finalists for their respective positional player of the year awards.
Oklahoma ranks fourth nationally in scoring offense and is on pace to break the program's single-season scoring record. Defensively, the Sooners rank seventh nationally in opponent field goal percentage and 12th in defensive rating. One of the nation's most explosive teams, Oklahoma has set a program record with six 100-point games and leads the country in pace of play.
Baranczyk is one of five Southeastern Conference coaches on the watch list, joining LSU's Kim Mulkey, Vanderbilt's Shea Ralph, Texas' Vic Schaefer and South Carolina's Dawn Staley.
With a win at No. 24 Georgia on Thursday, Baranczyk would secure her fifth consecutive 20-win season at Oklahoma and her 11th 20-win campaign in the last 12 seasons overall.
