Sooners No. 2 After First Week of Competition

NORMAN – After posting a 197.500 in the opening meet of the season, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team is No. 2 in the nation.

Florida leads the nation with a 197.725, while LSU is tied with Oklahoma at No. 2. Alabama (197.475) and Michigan (197.225) round out the top five.

On the events, the Sooners are No. 2 on bars (49.475) and beam (49.500), No. 4 on vault (49.350) and No. 15 on floor (49.175).

Individually, six athletes earned 13 individual rankings, including a pair of top five rankings.

Addison Fatta is No. 6 in the all-around with a 39.450. The sophomore is also No. 6 on bars (9.925) and No. 23 on vault (9.875). Sophomore Lily Pederson joins Fatta in the all-around rankings, coming in at No. 22 (39.250).

Freshman Mackenzie Estep is ranked on a trio of events with two top 10 rankings. Estep is No. 6 on floor (9.925), No. 10 on vault (9.90) and No. 18 on bars (9.90). Fellow freshman Elle Murphy earned a pair of top 10 rankings, sitting at No. 6 on bars (9.925) and No. 10 on beam (9.925).

Senior Faith Torrez and junior Hannah Scheible are each ranked on a pair of events. Torrez is No. 2 on vault (9.925) and beam (9.95), while Scheible is No. 2 on beam (9.95) and No. 18 on bars (9.90).

Conference action gets underway on Friday as the Sooners head to Columbia, Mo., for a national championship rematch with No. 7 Missouri. This will be the Sooners' first trip to Mizzou since 2012 when the squads were members of the Big 12 Conference.
