NORMAN — No. 5/8 Oklahoma men's golf continues its fall slate this week at the inaugural Invitational at the Honors Course, where it looks to secure its first win of the season.
The Sooners open play Monday with 36 holes at the Pete Dye-designed course, host of the 1996 and 2010 NCAA Championships, before closing with the final round Tuesday. The 12–team, five-count-four event features seven programs ranked inside Golf Channel's preseason top 15 poll.
Oklahoma enters off a third-place finish at the season-opening Carmel Cup, highlighted by preseason All-American Jase Summy sharing medalist honors. For his performance at Spyglass Hill, Summy was named the Ben Hogan Award National Golfer of the Month for August.
Play begins Monday morning with the Sooners' first tee time set for 7:30 a.m. CT off No. 1.
Head coach Ryan Hybl, the program's all-time wins leader, has guided the Sooners to 14 consecutive NCAA Championship appearances, a 2017 national title and three conference championships since taking over in 2009. His 49 career victories rank fourth among active coaches nationally. Hybl, the 2022 Dave Williams National Coach of the Year, has coached 17 players to 34 All–America honors and was inducted into the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame in 2024.
Oklahoma's lineup features Summy, ranked No. 4 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking after leading the United States with three points at the Walker Cup. He is joined by lineup regulars Ryder Cowan, Matthew Troutman and Clark Van Gaalen, along with junior PJ Maybank III. Redshirt freshman Andrew Ramos will compete as an individual in his first collegiate start after one appearance as a true freshman in a non-OU event.
Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament on Clippd.
