Oklahoma Athletics 2024-25 Photos of the Year

Foreword by Morgan Givens, Director of Photography

You must climb two ladders to get to the roof of historic McCasland Field House. Following instructions from OU Director of Facilities Brandon Lee, I made sure to not trip any alarms on the catwalk between ladders and adhered to the specified walking path once on the roof. It was 11:30 p.m. and dark, making the excursion — complete with camera gear — an extremely challenging one. But as the saying goes for most photographers, “Anything for the shot.”

OU x SEC Celebration - Run to the SEC 5k Glow Run

The Field House rooftop offered the best view on campus for the planned shot, one that would capture a truly defining moment for Oklahoma Athletics. The clock struck midnight on July 1, 2024, and OU was officially a member of the Southeastern Conference. As night turned to morning, the imagery told the first chapter of a new Sooners story to those in Oklahoma and beyond.

Plenty more fireworks have followed since that early morning atop McCasland. Over the last year, OU champions were crowned, records were broken, and so many that donned the classic Crimson and Cream had their moments and legacies immortalized. They say Sooner Magic is real, and our hope is these images beget a few more believers.
