Sooners Close Regular Season at Aggie Invitational
April 11, 2025 | Men's Golf
NORMAN — No. 6 Oklahoma wraps up the regular season this weekend when it travels the Lone Star State for the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas. The two-day, 54-hole event tees off on Saturday morning when the teams will play 36 holes, followed by a final round on Sunday to crown a team and individual champion.
The Sooners won the event in 2015 and 2021, and have played in the Aggie six times since Ryan Hybl became head coach in 2009. OU's last appearance at the event came in 2021.
In its most recent action, Oklahoma won the Maridoe Intercollegiate as Jase Summy took home medalist honors. The Sooners were dominant in their wire-to-wire win, finishing 16 shots ahead of runner-up No. 4 Oklahoma State, 30 shots in front of No. 4 Arizona State who finished third and 32 strokes above No. 14 Alabama who grabbed fourth.
Head coach Ryan Hybl — the program's all-time wins leader — has guided the Sooners to 13 consecutive NCAA Finals appearances, a national championship in 2017 and three conference titles since taking over in 2009. With 48 tournament wins, Hybl ranks fourth among active coaches and has mentored 14 Sooners to 30 All-America honors. The 2022 Dave Williams National Coach of the Year, Hybl was inducted into the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame in 2024.
Hybl's lineup in Texas features Summy, who owns three top-three finishes at his last three tournaments, Ryder Cowan, Drew Goodman, Clark Van Gaalen and Matthew Troutman. Jaxon Dowell and PJ Maybank III will compete unattached.
Live scoring will be available on Clippd.
