February 03, 2025 | Women's Tennis

NORMAN – Oklahoma women's tennis head coach Audra Cohen and the Sooners welcomed Edda Mamedova to the program for the Fall 2025 season today.

Mamedova, who hails from Moscow, Russia, has climbed as high as No. 8 (singles) and No. 9 (doubles) in the U18 rankings while having a WTA career-high of 860 in singles.

"We are thrilled to welcome Edda Mamedova to the Oklahoma Women's Tennis program," Cohen said. "Her exceptional talent, work ethic and passion for the game makes her a perfect fit for our team. We have no doubt she will make an immediate impact on and off the court as we continue to build a championship-caliber program."

Mamedova has amassed 36 singles wins and 10 doubles wins in her juniors career. In 2024, she won the W15 Kayseri, her first singles title.

"I received many offers, but it was the OU coaches that I trusted," Mamedova said. "I felt their warmth and attention; the team is also simply amazing. I hope we will improve together, and I can't wait to become not only part of the team, but also part of the family. See you in the fall of 2025! Boomer Sooner!"

The Sooners will host Tulsa on Tuesday (Feb. 4) for a quick tune-up before heading to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, hosted by Illinois and Northwestern on Feb. 7-11. First serve against the Golden Hurricane is set for 11 a.m. CT on Tuesday at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
