NORMAN – Oklahoma redshirt senior Liz Scott was named to the Southeastern Conference Women's Basketball Community Service Team, the league announced Wednesday.
Scott, a sixth-year student-athlete from Houston, will be recognized on Sunday during OU's senior day festivities prior to the Sooners' matchup against No. 20 Alabama at Lloyd Noble Center. She earned a spot on the Community Service Team in recognition of her impactful contributions to the community and dedication to service off the court.
The SEC Community Service Team, in its 27th year for women's and men's basketball, highlights student-athletes who go above and beyond in serving their communities. The concept originated with the SEC Football Community Service Team in 1994 and expanded to all league-sponsored sports in 2004, with at-large teams selected from 1999-2003.
Throughout her six years at Oklahoma, Scott devoted countless hours to the JD McCarty Center, building meaningful connections with children with developmental disabilities and bringing joy to their lives. Her commitment to service extended to fighting food insecurity through the OU Food Pantry and Norman Food & Shelter, ensuring local families had access to essential resources. Additionally, she and her teammates visited veteran centers across the Oklahoma City metro, spending time with veterans.
On the court, Scott has been a key contributor for the Sooners, appearing in 114 career games with 64 starts. She eclipsed 750 career points and 500 rebounds for the Sooners, and delivered a signature moment in 2022 when she scored the game-winning basket against No. 16 Texas, helping OU secure a top-16 seed in that year's NCAA Tournament. A five-star recruit out of Klein Oak High School in Houston, Scott was a 2019 Naismith All-America honorable mention selection.
Scott graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and is currently pursuing a master's degree in human relations.
