Sooners Hold Top Spot After Week Six

NORMAN – Through the halfway point of the regular season, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team remains the No. 1 team in the nation, boasting an average of 197.746.
The Sooners increased their average after posting their second-highest score of the season with a 197.825 win over Kentucky on Feb. 7. LSU jumped back to No. 2 with a 197.400 average, followed by Florida who dropped to No. 3 with a 197.290 mark. Utah (197.271) and UCLA (197.133) round out the top five for week six.
On the events, OU holds a No. 1 ranking on bars (49.513) and beam (49.408) while coming in at No. 2 on floor (49.450) and No. 3 on vault (49.375).
Six athletes grabbed 18 individual rankings, with four all-around competitors in the top 10.
Faith Torrez is ranked No. 2 in the nation in the all-around (39.608), followed by Jordan Bowers at No. 3 (39.579) and Audrey Davis at No. 4 (39.545). Lily Pederson checked in at No. 8 (39.483) as the Sooners lead the country with the most athletes ranked in the top 10 of the all-around.
Torrez is the only Sooner ranked on every event, coming in at No. 3 on floor (9.933), No. 7 on vault (9.90), No. 11 on beam (9.90) and No. 18 on bars (9.875). Bowers is ranked on a trio of events, with top 10 rankings on each as she is No. 5 on bars (80804), No. 9 on beam (9.904) and No. 10 on floor (9.917).
Davis is ranked on three events and is the only Sooner to hold a No. 1 ranking as she boasts the top average on bars (9.95). She is also No. 21 on vault (9.870) and No. 24 on beam (9.862).
Pederson holds a pair of event rankings, sitting at No. 12 on bars (9.888) and No. 15 on vault (9.879). Danielle Sievers and Addison Fatta are each ranked on bars, tying for No. 18 with a 9.875 average.
OU heads to Baton Rouge, La., to take on the reigning national champions and current No. 2 LSU Tigers Friday night. The battle between the top two teams is set for 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
