• The Sooners are led by their four McDonald's All-Americans: Raegan Beers, Aaliyah Chavez, Payton Verhulst and Sahara Williams. Through two games, the quartet account for 76% of Oklahoma's scoring and 65% of the team's rebounding with All-American Beers (18.0 ppg, 12.0 rpg) leading the way with the other three not far behind in terms of early production.
• Wednesday night marks the second game of a six-day, four-game stretch for the Sooners featuring nearly 4,500 miles of travel across three time zones. OU fell to No. 3 UCLA on Monday in Sacramento, hosts Kansas City on Wednesday at 8 p.m., North Alabama on Friday at 10:30 a.m. and visits Western Carolina on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
• Wednesday marks the second matchup, and first in 40 years, between Oklahoma and Kansas City. The Sooners hold a 1-0 series lead, winning the lone matchup in 1984 in Norman, 88-62. The matchup with Kansas City marks a homecoming for Roos' head coach Dionnah Jackson-Durrett, who starred at Oklahoma from 2001–05. A finalist for the Wade and Naismith National Player of the Year awards and a first-round WNBA Draft selection by the Detroit Shock in 2005, Jackson-Durrett helped lead the Sooners to the 2002 Final Four and two Big 12 titles during her standout career in crimson and cream. A three-time All-Big 12 selection and 2004 Big 12 Tournament MVP, she earned Kodak and AP All-America honorable mention honors as a senior and was a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year award. Jackson-Durrett served as associate head coach at Texas from 2020–22, helping the Longhorns to back-to-back NCAA Elite Eight appearances before taking over the Kansas City program.
• A win on Wednesday would aoid back-to-back losses for the Sooners. OU has dropped back-to-back games just five times since Baranczyk arrived in 2021. In games following a loss since 2021, the Sooners outscore opponents by an average of 10.2 points and are 11-3 at Lloyd Noble Center.
• Sahara Williams is off to an incredible start for the Sooners, leading the team with 13.0 rebounds per game after grabbing a career-high 14 vs. Belmont (Nov. 3) and 12 more at UCLA (Nov. 10). She's the first Sooner under 6'0" to post back-to-back double-digit rebound games since Skylar Vann in January 2023, and can be the first to do so in three straight since Madi Williams in December 2021.
The Sooners host North Alabama on Friday at 10:30 a.m. CT for the program's annual Field Trip Day game, where the University of Oklahoma expects a record-breaking over 8,000 children to fill Lloyd Noble Center. The game will air on SEC Network+ and Sooner Sports Radio Network.
