Sooners Remain No. 1 After Opening Weekend

NORMAN – After posting the highest score in the nation on opening weekend with a 197.550, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team remained the No. 1 team in the nation.
The Sooners were one of just two schools to post a 197-plus score in the first week of competition. Coming in at No. 2 is LSU with a 197.300, followed by Michigan State (196.850), Utah (196.775) and Missouri (196.700).
The Sooners are also ranked No. 1 on a pair of events with a 49.450 on vault and 49.550 on bars. OU is No. 2 on beam with a 49.400 and fifth on floor with a 49.150. The team's 49.550 on bars was the highest of any individual event on the weekend and one of just two 49.500-plus event scores.
Individually, seven Sooners earned 19 individual rankings, including all five all-around competitors ranked in the top 15.
Faith Torrez checks in at No. 2 in the all-around with a 39.625. The junior is also ranked fourth on vault (9.925) and beam (9.925), sixth on floor (9.875) and seventh on bars (9.900).
Lily Pederson is ranked fifth in the all-around (39.550), first on beam (9.95), fourth on vault (9.925) and 24th on bars (9.875). Audrey Davis is ninth in the all-around (39.425), first on bars (9.95), sixth on floor (9.875), and 15th on vault (9.850).
Addison Fatta and Jordan Bowers are 12th and 13th in the all-around, respectively, with marks of 39.325 and 39.275. Bowers is also third on bars (9.925) while Fatta is seventh on beam (9.900).
Keira Wells is No. 1 on vault with a 9.95, and Elle Mueller is seventh on bars with a 9.900.
The Sooners will return to the floor this Saturday, Jan. 11, for the Sprouts Farmer's Market Collegiate Quad against No. 2 LSU, No. 4 Utah and No. 6 California The meet will air at 3 p.m. CT on ABC from the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The home slate is set to begin on Friday, Jan. 17, against Missouri inside Lloyd Noble Center.
