NORMAN – Oklahoma men's gymnastics junior
Kelton Christiansen was named the CGA Co-Specialist of the Week after his performance in OU's win over Illinois Saturday night, the College Gymnastics Association announced Wednesday.
Christiansen won the high bar title with his stuck-dismount 14.350 and added a 13.050 on pommel horse to lead the Sooners to a 330.700 to 325.500 win over the Illini at McCasland Field House. Both scores were season highs for the Arvada, Colo., product. Christiansen's 14.350 is the best high bar score in the country this season, and he ranks second nationally in high bar average. He shared the weekly award with Illinois' Brandon Dang.
This is Christiansen's first career CGA weekly honor, and OU's second this season. Junior
Ignacio Yockers was named CGA Specialist of the Week on Jan. 15.
Oklahoma travels to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend to face Ohio State at noon CT on Sunday, Feb. 2. The meet will be televised via Big Ten Network+.
