Men's Golf Continues Autumn Slate at Valero Texas Collegiate
September 19, 2024 | Men's Golf
NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's golf team continues its fall slate this weekend when it travels to Texas for the Valero Texas Collegiate at TPC San Antonio. The third-ranked Sooners tee off at the 54-hole event on Saturday morning in a traditional five-count-four format with each team playing one round over three days of play.
Fifteen teams, including seven in the top 25 and five in the top 10, will vie for the team title, while the individual winner receives an exemption to play in the 2025 Valero Texas Open on the PGA Tour.
The Sooners' lineup boasts preseason All-Americans Drew Goodman and Jase Summy for the second consecutive event, along with 2024 freshman All-America honoree Ryder Cowan. Matthew Troutman, who finished T18 at the Inverness Intercollegiate, makes his second straight appearance while sophomore PJ Maybank III makes his season debut. True freshman Clark Van Gaalen, who posted a top-30 finish at Inverness, will play unattached from the OU lineup.
In 2023, Oklahoma opened its season at the tournament, finishing fifth out of 12 teams. Summy and Goodman are the only two Sooners in the lineup this week that played in the event last year, finishing T33 and T51, respectively.
Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.
