NORMAN — Oklahoma rising senior golfers Stephen Campbell Jr. and Drew Goodman debuted in the PGA TOUR U ranking on Wednesday, as the PGA announced its 2025 preseason list.
Campbell Jr. checked in at No. 14, while Goodman earned the 19th spot in the ranking. If the two were to finish inside the top 20 at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, they would be the nation-leading eighth and ninth Sooners to earn professional status through the pathway program since it was introduced in 2021.
PGA Tour University collaborates with the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) to rank the top senior golfers nationwide and provide a direct route to the professional circuit. At the end of each season, the top-ranked golfer earns PGA TOUR membership, while those ranked Nos. 2-5 gain full Korn Ferry Tour (KFT) status. Players who finish Nos. 6-10 in the final PGA TOUR University Ranking will earn conditional Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2025, fully exempt PGA TOUR Americas membership for 2025, as well as an exemption to the Second Stage of 2025 PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry. Players who finish Nos. 11-25 in the final PGA TOUR University Ranking will earn fully exempt membership on PGA TOUR Americas for 2025 and an exemption for the Second Stage of 2024 PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry.
Campbell Jr. is ranked No. 84 in WAGR and was a PING All-Region honoree last season for the Sooners. In 10 events, the Richmond, Texas, product earned eight lineup starts and tallied a career-low and team-best scoring average of 70.68 (-0.74). In his career, Campbell Jr. has 17 top-20 finishes and nine in the top 10 in just 34 events. On the amateur circuit, a key component of the PGA TOUR U ranking, he posted a T19 finish at the Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship in June.
Goodman is OU's highest-ranked golfer in WAGR at No. 16. A two-time All-America selection, the Norman product has played in a team-high 38 events (114 rounds) as a Sooner, posting seven top-five finishes and 25 rounds in the 60s. He'll enter his final season at Oklahoma as the program's record holder for career scoring average (70.89, -0.45) and ranks in OU's top 10 in par-or-better rounds (72) and counting percentage (85.1). He posted a win at the 2024 Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship in June and has 12 top 10s in WAGR-counting events.
Campbell Jr. and Goodman look to join Ben Lorenz (2024, 13th), Patrick Welch (2023, 8th), Logan McAllister (2022, 3rd), Chris Gotterup (2022, 7th), Garett Reband (2021, 5th), Quade Cummins (2021, 6th), Jonathan Brightwell (2021, 10th) as top-20 finishers in the program. The seven Sooners playing professionally through the PGA TOUR U program have earned over $2.8 million in four years.
Campbell Jr. and Goodman will guide the Sooners into the 2024-25 season with a roster that features six total golfers who played at least five events last season.
The full 2024-25 schedule will be released at a later date.
