NORMAN – Oklahoma women's tennis head coach Audra Cohen and the Sooners welcomed Gloriana Nahum to the program for the Fall 2024 season today.
Nahum, who hails from Cotonou, Benin and trains in Paris, has climbed as high as No. 28 in the ITF junior rankings while having a WTA career-high of 1162 in singles.
"I cannot express how grateful we are to be adding Gloriana to our program," Cohen said. "We have recruited Gloriana for a long time and always knew Oklahoma would be the place to accelerate her career as a tennis player and also mature as a human being. We cannot wait for her journey as a Sooner to start."
Nahum has won five singles titles and six doubles titles in her junior's career. Additionally, Nahum has made appearances in three Junior Grand Slam tournaments: US Open, Australian Open and Roland Garros, where she made history by becoming the first female player from Benin to win a match in a Grand Slam.
"I want to first thank my family and Sadia for all of the help they have given me so I could receive such an incredible opportunity at Oklahoma," Nahum said. "I want to also thank the Oklahoma coaches who have been so kind, determined and patient. I am really excited to start this new journey and being part of such a strong team and great university! Lastly, I thank God for everything!"
The Sooners will return to the court in the fall. A schedule will be announced at a later date.
