Benas and Moldauer were named to the USA Gymnastics Men's Senior National Team following U.S. Gymnastics Championships earlier this month in Fort Worth, Texas. Benas placed 11th in the all-around at U.S. Championships, compiling a 164.500 total. He finished seventh on pommel horse (27.650), 10th on floor exercise (27.900), 13th on high bar (26.500), 14th on parallel bars (28.000), 15th on still rings (27.050) and scored 27.400 on vault. Moldauer finished fourth in the all-around with a two-day total of 168.200 and won his third parallel bars national title with a 30.800 total. He has won five U.S. national gold medals.

The U.S. Olympic Team Trials for men's artistic gymnastics serves as the final stop on the path to Paris. Twenty men will vie for Olympic berths, with five men – plus two traveling and two non-traveling replacement athletes – being selected to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team. Qualifying procedures for the Olympic Team, via USA Gymnastics, can be found here.

This is the sixth consecutive Olympic cycle in which a future, current or former Oklahoma men's gymnast has competed at U.S. Olympic Team Trials: Jonathan Horton, Taqiy Abdullah-Simmons and assistant coach Guard Young in 2004; Horton in 2008; Horton, Chris Brooks, Jake Dalton, Steven Legendre and Alex Naddour in 2012; Brooks, Dalton, Legendre, Moldauer, Naddour and Kanji Oyama in 2016; Moldauer, Allan Bower, Gage Dyer, Vitaliy Guimaraes, Colin Van Wicklen and Matt Wenske in 2021; Benas and Moldauer in 2024.

Including Benas, seven gymnasts (Dyer ['21], Guimaraes ['21], Wenske ['21], Moldauer ['16], Dalton ['12] and Horton ['08]) were either undergraduate student-athletes or graduated from OU the same year they competed at trials for the listed years (five consecutive Olympic cycles).

Sooners Competing Around the World
Rising senior Emre Dodanli was named to Turkey's Olympic Team for men's gymnastics on Wednesday morning by the Turkish Gymnastics Federation. He is set to be the seventh Sooner gymnast to compete at the Olympic Games since 2008, and his selection makes it five straight Olympics in which an OU men's gymnast will compete.

Dodanli, who was recently named an OU team captain for the 2025 season, won gold in the all-around at the Turkish Artistic Gymnastics Championships last weekend (June 22-23) in Antalya, Turkey. In addition to the all-around national championship, he won Turkish individual event national titles on floor exercise and high bar.

A product of Turkey by way of Milton, Ontario, Dodanli competed with the Turkish National Team at the 2023 World Championships in October, helping Turkey qualify a men's gymnastics team to the Olympic Games for the first time in the country's history. He also competed with Turkey at the 2024 European Championships in April.

Rising junior Ignacio Yockers, whose mother is from Spain, competed at the Spanish Artistic Gymnastics Championship last weekend, placing eighth on pommel horse, 11th on rings, 14th on high bar and 25th on parallel bars. Arthur Ballon, who redshirted in his first season at OU in 2024, competed at the French Artistic Gymnastics Elite National Championships on June 8.
