Women's Basketball to Face Louisville in 2024 SEC/ACC Challenge

June 12, 2024 | Women's Basketball

NORMAN – Oklahoma women's basketball announced Wednesday that it will face Louisville in the SEC/ACC Challenge on Dec. 4 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky.

The Sooners enter the Southeastern Conference on July 1 and will play in the league for the first time in the 2024-25 campaign.

Oklahoma and head coach Jennie Baranczyk's upcoming contest with the Cardinals marks the third between the Sooners and Louisville all-time, with OU falling in the 2009 national semifinal and a 2013 non-conference tilt.

A potential top-15 matchup, the Sooners and Cardinals were ranked 13th and 12th in ESPN's Way Too Early poll last month.

The SEC/ACC Women's Challenge is set for Wednesday, Dec. 4 and Thursday, Dec. 5, and will feature games across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACC Network and SEC Network. The 2024 edition of the challenge is the second year as the SEC and ACC split the women's challenge 7-7 in 2023.

The league announced home and away opponents for the 2025 conference slate in May. The Sooners will host Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt at Lloyd Noble Center. They will travel to Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Oklahoma, who opened summer practice this week, brings back 98% of its scoring from last season's Big 12 championship team, featuring All-America honorees Skylar Vann (Big 12 Player of the Year) and Payton Verhulst (Big 12 Newcomer of the Year). Moreover, national Coach of the Year finalist Baranczyk added Raegan Beers, the nation's premier transfer and an All-America center, to the roster. Eleven Sooners return from the previous season, including OU's top 10 scorers and rebounders, along with Liz Scott, a 2023 Lisa Leslie Preseason Watch List candidate who missed the 2023-24 season due to injury.

Oklahoma's full schedule, with dates and times, will be released closer to the season.
