NORMAN – No. 2/2 Oklahoma Softball fell 6-2 to No. 4/4 Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon at Love's Field, dropping game two of Bedlam Presented by Phillips 66.
The Sooners (45-6, 21-5 Big 12) and Cowgirls (44-8, 21-5 Big 12) waited out a three hour, 24-minute weather delay that began just four pitches into the game. OU allowed four home runs and was out-hit 10-5 in the game, sliding back into a tie with OSU for second place in the Big 12 standings.
Saturday's contest began as a pitchers' duel as both starters traded zeroes through three innings. Following a scoreless top half of the fourth, Oklahoma opened the scoring with a
Kasidi Pickering (1-for-2, BB, RBI) two-out RBI single that plated
Alyssa Brito (1-for-4, R, 2B).
OSU responded with a solo shot in the fifth, then
Alynah Torres (1-for-2, BB, 2B, RBI) put the Sooners back in front by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the bottom half.
The Cowgirls posted a five-spot in the sixth to take their decisive 6-2 lead.
Nicole May struck out four and scattered eight hits across 5.0 innings of three-run ball, walking one while taking a hard-luck loss.
Karlie Keeney worked around an error to throw a scoreless frame out of the bullpen, striking out one.
The Sooners stand a game back of Texas in the Big 12 standings entering Sunday's regular-season finale, needing both a UT loss and an OU win to clinch a conference title.
