NORMAN – The OU rowing team continued their spring season with major wins against Wisconsin at the OKC Boathouse District on Saturday.
OU's second and first novice eight took a commanding lead against the Badgers. Both crews left the water with wins.
In the second and fourth races of the day, Oklahoma's 2V4+ and 1V4+ fought hard but came up short. Wisconsin walked away with their two and only wins of the day in both races.
OU's 3V4+ squad pulled off ahead against Wisconsin, marking the third win of the morning for the crimson and cream.
The Sooners' 1V8+ and 2V8+ squads had close races in a back and forth battle against the Badgers but in the last sprint, both boats edged ahead to secure the first place win.
"We were confident – cool, calm and collected," 1V8+ coxswain
Riley O'Neill said. "We started making moves and by the 200 [meters] in, we knew we had it in the bag."
