Six Sooners Secure 15 All-America Honors

March 28, 2024 | Women's Gymnastics

NORMAN – Six members of the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team combined to secure 15 regular season All-America honors from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).

Seniors Ragan Smith, Audrey Davis and Katherine LeVasseur, junior Jordan Bowers, sophomore Faith Torrez and freshman Hannah Scheible all received recognition from the association.

Regular season All-America honors are based on an individual's final national qualifying score (NQS) prior to regional competition. First team honorees are ranked 1-8 nationally, and second team designees are ranked 9-16.

The Sooners had at least two athletes recognized on every event and in the all-around and three Sooners honored on two events and the all-around. All four of Oklahoma's all-around competitors earned All-America honors in the all-around, the most of any school.

Bowers paced the Sooners with five All-America honors for the second consecutive season. The junior earned first team honors on vault, bars, floor and the all-around and second team honors on beam. Bowers ended the season as the No. 1 gymnast in the nation on bars and No. 2 in the all-around and on floor. Bowers joins Maggie Nichols as the only Sooners to earn five regular season All-America honors in multiple seasons.

Davis and Torrez each notched three honors. Along with her second-team all-around honor, Davis picked up first team honors on bars and second team honors on beam. Davis is tied with Bowers as the No. 1 gymnast in the nation on the bars. Torrez earned first team honors on beam as the No. 4 ranked gymnast on the event and second team honors on floor and in the all-around.

LeVasseur brought home a pair of accolades with a first team nod on vault and second team honors in the all-around. Smith earned her third consecutive first-team honor on the balance beam, finishing the year as the No. 1 athlete in the nation on the event. In her first season of competition, Scheible earned first team honors on vault.

The Sooners will have the weekend off before regional competition in Ann, Arbor, Mich. OU is the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA Championships and will begin postseason competition on Thursday, April 4.
