Davis Named Finalist for Prestigious AAI Award

March 15, 2024 | Women's Gymnastics

NORMAN – Oklahoma's Audrey Davis has been named one of six finalists for the prestigious AAI Award, recognizing the most outstanding senior female gymnast in the country. The honor is voted on by NCAA women's gymnastics head coaches and sponsored by American Athletic, Inc. (AAI).

The AAI Award is considered one of the highest honors given in the sport of women's gymnastics. Davis is the first Oklahoma finalist since Anastasia Webb in 2021. She joins an elite group of Sooner legends who were finalists including Megan Ferguson (2012), Brie Olson (2013), Taylor Spears (2014), Erica Brewer (2015), Haley Scaman (2016), Chayse Capps (2017), AJ Jackson (2018), Brenna Dowell (2019) and 2020 AAI Award Winner Maggie Nichols.

Davis is joined by five additional finalists including Luisa Blanco (Alabama), Haleigh Bryant (LSU), Maile O'Keefe (Utah), Gabby Wilson (Michigan) and Raena Worley (Kentucky)

"Audrey Davis has been a blessing from the moment she stepped foot on our campus," head coach K.J. Kindler said. "In gymnastics, her No. 1 accomplishment is her level of consistency on the competition floor which is literally mind blowing (99% hit percentage, hitting 193 of 194 routines). Her consistency in practice, in both spirit and athletic success is easily commensurate to her competition record. She is a forward thinker who wants to have an impact on the younger generation by giving back to the young girls within the gymnastics community. She always says "yes" when called upon. She believes and upholds the standards and values of our program while being genuinely and authentically herself in all situations and scenarios. She has taught us all the meaning of gratitude and has been a joy to coach."

A member of OU's team that claimed the 2022 and 2023 NCAA Championships, Davis has been a crucial part of OU's success over the last four years. During her career, the Sooners have secured an NCAA top-two finish each year, earned three consecutive regional titles and back-to-back Big 12 Championships.

Davis has missed just one meet in her OU career and boasts an incredible hit percentage of 99.47%, nailing 193 of 194 routines performed thus far. As a sophomore and junior, she hit 100% of her routines, and impressive feat as she went from competing only two or three events per meet, to competing in the all-around. This season, she is 43-for-43 during her senior campaign. Davis's lone blemish on her impressive hit percentage came as a freshman in 2021 and since then she has hit 182 consecutive routines. Davis has excelled on every event she has competed, recording a career-high 10.0 on bars, a 9.975 on beam, a 9.95 on vault, a 9.925 on floor and a career-high 39.650 in the all-around.

The 2023 Big 12 Champion on the uneven bars, Davis has tallied 45 scores of 9.9 or higher on the event in 57 routines (.789 percentage). During her sophomore season, she started the year with 10 straight meets scoring at least a 9.9 and finished with 15 of 16 meets earning a 9.9 or better. Her sophomore year also marked her first season competing on floor and in the all-around where she immediately excelled and earned a season-high 39.625 in the all-around.

Davis had a breakout junior season, setting her career high in the all-around with a 39.650 and also recording career highs on floor (9.925), vault (9.95) and a season high on beam (9.95). She recorded eight marks of 39.500 or better in the all-around during the 2023 season. Her most clutch performance came at the 2023 Norman Regional final where she secured a 9.925 on balance beam following a pair of falls. Davis's calmness and poise on the event helped the Sooners get back on track and
advance to the national semifinals.

She is having a remarkable senior season with no scores lower than 9.800 and posting two new career highs. On bars, she achieved perfection with a 10.0 on March 3. This came after an incredible four-year career that saw her post 12 marks of 9.975 and 16 marks of 9.95. Davis also secured a career-high on beam with a 9.975 in the leadoff position on March 1. She has matched her career high in the all-around with a 39.650 in 2024 and has competed all-around in 10 of 11 meets this season.

The Oakland, Fla., native has compiled quite the list of individual accolades in her time as a Sooner. Besides her NCAA individual runner-up finish, she was the 2023 Big 12 uneven bars champion. She is a four-time NCAA All-American and four-time WCGA regular season All-American, along with being a four-time All-Big 12 selection.

She owns 32 individual event titles, including an astounding 22 on the uneven bars and is a seven-time Big 12 Weekly Award Winner.

Davis will graduate with a degree in communications and a minor in marketing from OU. She is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 Academic selection and a WCGA Academic All-American.
