OU Tops National Rankings Again This Week

NORMAN – After registering its nation-leading third score of 415.000 or better on Saturday, the Oklahoma men's gymnastics team remained atop the national rankings for Week 10, as the ranking system moved to a four-score average. The Sooners are ranked first with a 414.217 average, just ahead of Stanford's 413.300.
OU and Stanford will meet this weekend in Palo Alto, Calif.
Teams and individuals are ranked this week based on a four-score system, two of which must be from away meets. The highest score is dropped, and the remaining three scores are averaged.
The Sooners have registered the two highest team scores in the nation this season with their 420.350 at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 20 and their 417.800 on Feb. 10. OU's average of 414.217 includes the 417.800, its 415.300 scored against Navy on Saturday and its 409.550 at Michigan on March 2.
Oklahoma, which leads the nation in four events, sits ahead of No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 Nebraska (410.217), No. 4 Illinois (410.117) and No. 5 Michigan (410.083). Stanford is the only other team nationally to score better than 415 twice this season.
The Sooners hold the national lead on floor exercise (70.133), pommel horse (69.717), vault (72.383) and horizontal bar (68.933). OU ranks third on parallel bars (68.217) and fifth on still rings (67.183).
Individually, redshirt sophomore Fuzzy Benas leads the nation in the all-around with his 82.317 four-score average, which includes a nation-leading high score of 85.200 set on Jan. 20.
Junior Emre Dodanli leads the nation in floor exercise with his 14.900 average. He has recorded each of the three highest floor exercise scores nationally this season. He has scored higher than 15.000 on floor exercise twice this season and remains the only gymnast nationally to do so even once since the 2021 campaign. Freshman Nico Hamilton ranks fifth nationally on floor exercise with his 14.083 average, while fifth-year senior Jack Freeman ranks seventh with his average of 14.050.
Sophomore Ignacio Yockers ranks second nationally on pommel horse with his 14.950 average, while senior Zach Nunez ranks fourth with a 14.333 average. Freshman Tas Hajdu ranks ninth on still rings (13.783). On vault, freshman Max Bereznev ranks seventh (14.633) and Benas ranks ninth (14.600).
Benas ranks second in the country on parallel bars (14.333) and sophomore Kelton Christiansen ranks second nationally on high bar (14.200). Freeman ranks third (14.167), Dodanli ranks fourth (14.117) and Benas ranks 10th (13.800) on high bar.
Oklahoma travels to the Bay Area this weekend for a contest at No. 2 Stanford with No. 8 California. The meet is set for a 6 p.m. CT start.
