NORMAN – Oklahoma head volleyball coach Aaron Mansfield announced the addition of Kari Geissberger for the 2024 season Wednesday. Geissberger joins the Sooners after a four-year career at Loyola Marymount University and will play her fifth and final year at OU.

In her four years at LMU, Geissberger has recorded 1,150 kills, including a season best 343 as a junior in 2022. Geissberger has average 3.42 kills per set in her career. She has added 345 digs and 280 blocks across her four seasons at LMU. She boasts a career-high 30 kills in match, set in 2020. In 2020, she was named to the All-WCC First Team and All-WCC Freshman Team. In 2021, she was an All-WCC Second Team selection. In 2022, She was named to the All-WCC First Team, AVCA Pacific South Region Team and the AVCA All-American Team. In her final season with the Lions, she was once again named to the All-WCC First Team.

"We can't wait to welcome Kari into our program," Mansfield said. "I have been fortunate enough to know Kari and her family for the last seven years and have observed the tremendous amount of growth that has taken place during Kari's student-athlete experience. Kari is a joy to be around, values learning and aspires to play professionally after her time here at OU. All of these attributes will help make our team better and I have no doubt that Kari will be ready to go when she steps foot on campus this summer."

Prior to LMU, Geissberger was a four-year letter winner at Marin Catholic HS where she was varsity captain her junior and senior years. She set the record for most kills in a single season at Marin Catholic and was the third Marin Catholic player with over 1000 kills.

""I really wanted a big school experience and to be able to go to Oklahoma and be coached again by Aaron and Brian was a great opportunity," Geissberger said. "They both inspired me to challenge myself and to develop as a player and an individual. I'm looking forward to being a Sooner!"

A native of Greenbrae, Calif., Geissberger is the daughter of John and Krista Geissberger. She has one sister, Lindsey, and a brother, Ryan.
