NORMAN ā For the third straight week, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team posted the highest score in the nation to hold on to its spot as the No. 1 team in the nation. The Sooners boast an average of 198.025 after securing a 198.325 victory over Denver, UCLA and Stanford on Sunday afternoon.
California remained in second with a 197.533 average, followed by LSU (197.417), Arkansas (197.338) and Utah (197.333).
On the events, OU ranks first on vault (49.467) and beam (49.575). The Sooners are the only team to post scores of 49.600 on both events. OU is ranked third on bars (49.508) and fourth on floor (49.475).
Individually, seven Sooners combined for 15 individual rankings. All four Oklahoma all-around competitors are ranked in the top 15. Faith Torrez is No. 5 (39.617), Jordan Bowers is No. 8 (39.592), Audrey Davis is tied for 10th (39.558) and Katherine LeVasseur is 14th (39.533).
Hannah Scheible continued her move in the rankings, coming in at No. 4 on vault with a 9.925Ā average. Torrez is 10th on the event (9.892) and LeVasseur is tied at No. 15 (9.883).
On bars, Davis is tied for ninth (9.917) and Ragan Smith is tied for 13th (9.908). Bowers and Danae Fletcher are tied for 23rd with a 9.900 average. Ā
Torrez is the highest ranked Sooner on any event, coming in at No. 3 on beam with a 9.950 average. Bowers is No. 8 (9.917) and Davis is tied for 11th (9.908).
Bowers is the lone Sooner ranked on floor, tied for 18th with a 9.917 average.
The Sooners will return to the friendly confines of Lloyd Noble Center for the first time in 2024 on Friday, Jan. 26, when they host a conference clash with No. 12 Denver. The meet is set for a 6:45 p.m. CT start time and tickets can be purchased here.
