NORMAN – Junior
Emre Dodanli won three event titles in leading Oklahoma to a season-opening win over Air Force Saturday night at McCasland Field House and was named the MPSF Specialist of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Dodanli won all three events in which he competed, scoring higher than 14 in all of them, to lead the Sooners to a 413.600 team total. The junior from Milton, Ontario, posted the highest score of the meet with his 14.750 on floor exercise, then followed with a 14.700 on vault and a 14.050 on the high bar in OU's final event.
Dodanli's total of 43.500 helped the Sooners post the second-highest team score of the weekend and second highest score nationally so far this season. His 14.750 score on floor exercise is also the highest floor score recorded this season.
No. 2 Oklahoma travels to Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend for the Rocky Mountain Open at the Air Force Academy. The meet is set for 7 p.m. CT on Saturday.
