Emre Dodanli and alumnus Yul Moldauer are set to compete in the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Sept. 30-Oct. 8 in Antwerp, Belgium.
Dodanli is competing for his native Turkey, while Moldauer is competing with Team USA at a World Championships or Olympics for the fourth time in five years.
A product of Turkey by way of Milton, Ontario, Dodanli earned a place on Turkey's national team with his performance at the Turkish national championships last month. He won the floor exercise, parallel bars and high bar titles and place second in the all-around. Dodanli is coming off a 2023 collegiate campaign in which he earned All-America status on floor exercise at the NCAA Championships and won the MPSF floor title. Turkey is seeking its first men's team appearance in the Olympics, and can qualify for Paris 2024 with a top-nine finish at the World Championships.
Moldauer, who competed at Oklahoma from 2016-19, secured his spot on the USA Worlds team with his performance at the USA Gymnastics Championships in San Jose, Calif., last month. He won the parallel bars title and placed third on pommel horse.
Competition at the World Championships begins Saturday with the first day of qualifications. Qualification rounds run Saturday, Sept. 30 through Monday, Oct. 2. The men's team final will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, the men's individual all-around final will be on Thursday, Oct. 5 and the individual event finals will take place Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7-8.
