NORMAN – Seventeen current and two former Oklahoma men's gymnasts are set to compete Sunday at the USA Gymnastics Core Hydration Classic at NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
Current OU gymnasts will compete in the second senior men's session, which begins at 4:45 p.m. CT on Sunday. The men's competition will be streamed on the
USA Gymnastics YouTube channel.
Returning Oklahoma gymnasts scheduled to compete are
Fuzzy Benas,
Kelton Christiansen,
Jack Freeman,
Brigham Frentheway,
Leo Koike,
Nikolai Kolesnikov,
Zach Nunez,
Adriel Perales,
Mac Seyler,
Dan Simmons,
Cailen Walker and
Ignacio Yockers. They will be joined by newcomers Colin Flores, Tyler Flores, Tas Hajdu, Matthew Burgoyne and Zachary Marckx. OU Alumni Yul Moldauer and Colin VanWicklen are slated to compete in the first senior men's session beginning at 10:45 a.m. CT Sunday.
The Core Hydration Classic, formerly known as the U.S. Classic, features an elite field of junior and senior gymnasts and is the final qualifying event for the 2023 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, which serve as USA Gymnastics' annual national championships, scheduled for Aug. 24-27 in San Jose, Calif.
