Kholo Montsi Joins Sooners For 2023-24
July 26, 2023 | Men's Tennis
NORMAN - Oklahoma men's tennis head coach Nick Crowell announced the addition of Kholo Montsi on Wednesday.
"We are excited and thrilled to have Kholo Montsi join the program in August," said Crowell. "Kholo is one of the top-three recruits in the world that will be attending college this fall. He brings international experience at the highest level, combined with a great work ethic and passion for the game. We can't wait to get started."
From East London, South Africa, Montsi will join the Sooners for 2023-24 season. He brings a career-high ATP ranking at No. 601, ITF junior world ranking at No. 12 and UTR of 13.64.
Montsi comes to Norman with four future semifinal appearances and one future final appearance. Additionally, he will make his collegiate debut after defeating former 2022 NCAA Individual Champion Ben Shelton and claiming the victory over Brayden Schnur, who was ranked as high as No. 92 in the world rankings.
The incoming freshman will continue the Montsi name following his brother Siphos Montsi, an All-American, being with the Sooners for the 2023 season.
"I chose Oklahoma because I saw a team of people that I feel like I can trust and are genuine people," said Montsi. "I see us doing great work together and the results will follow for sure. I'm excited to enter the college scene and there's no better team to have around me than OU. I look forward to the next four years of my development at Oklahoma, not only as a tennis player but as a human."
The squad will return to action in the fall with a schedule announced at a later date.
