Men’s Hoops Announces 2023-24 Big 12 Home and Away Opponents

NORMAN –The Big 12 conference released its home-and-away designations for the upcoming men's basketball season, the league office announced Thursday.
The 18-game schedule will feature nine home and away contests, including five opponents the Sooners will play twice. OU will play the remaining eight schools once to complete the conference slate. Prior to the 2023-24 season, the Sooners faced each conference member twice in an 18-game schedule.
Oklahoma's upcoming conference campaign features home-and-away contests against Big 12 newcomer Cincinnati and four of OU's eight most-played series in program history: Oklahoma State (247 GP), Kansas (225 GP), Iowa State (215 GP) and Texas (103 GP). The Sooners will also welcome BYU, Houston, Texas Tech and West Virginia to Norman. In addition to its five home-and-away opponents, OU will make the trek to Baylor, K-State, TCU and UCF as away-only contests.
Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitive balance. A full Big 12 schedule will be released at a later date.
2023-24 Big 12 Opponents
Home-and-away: Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas
Home-only: BYU, Houston, Texas Tech, West Virginia
Away-only: Baylor, UCF, K-State, TCU
The Sooners are in their third season under the direction of head coach Porter Moser. Oklahoma returns a trio of impact players from last season, including Big 12 All-Freshman team selection Milos Uzan, Otega Oweh and Sam Godwin. Jacolb Cole, Kaden Cooper, Le'Tre Darthard, John Hugley IV, Javian McCollum, Jalon More and Rivaldo Soares will don the Crimson and Cream for the first time this season.
Oklahoma previously announced a home contest against Providence in the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle and a neutral site clash in Charlotte, N.C., against North Carolina in the Jumpman Invitational. The Sooners are slated to compete in the inaugural 2023 Rady Children's Invitational Nov. 23-24 in San Diego, Calif. The two-day event features the Sooners, Iowa Hawkeyes, USC Trojans and Seton Hall Pirates.
