NORMAN – University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics student-athletes Olivia Trautman and Danielle Sievers were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Division I Women's At-Large Team, the association announced Thursday. Trautman was named a first-team Academic All-American while Sievers earned second-team honors.
This marks the first time in OU women's gymnastics program history that multiple gymnasts earned CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America honors in a single season. Both Sooners appeared on the CSC Academic All-America At-Large Team for the first time in their careers.
Trautman and Sievers are the seventh and eighth OU gymnasts to become Academic All-Americans and first since Anastasia Webb in 2021. The program has produced nine CSC Academic All-America honors with former Sooner Brittney Koncak-Schumann as the only repeat honoree (2006, '07). Trautman joins Koncak-Schumann and Lara Albright (2014) as the only Sooners to earn first-team honors.
A Champlain, Minn., native, Trautman graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in health and exercise science. Trautman, who minored in psychology, finished her academic career with a 3.77 cumulative GPA and posted a perfect 4.0 during the spring 2021 and spring and fall 2022 semesters. She was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team and earned WCGA Academic All-America honors each of the past four seasons. Trautman, who was a super senior this past season, capped her distinguished OU career with the national vault title at the 2023 NCAA Championships, four Big 12 individual championships and 12 All-America honors (10 NCAA, two regular season).
Sievers is also a health and exercise science major and carries a 3.87 cumulative GPA through her sophomore year as a Sooner. The Gary, S.D., native was named the 2023 Big 12 co-vault champion and finished the regular season ranked eighth nationally on vault and tied for 21st on bars. She earned first-team WCGA All-America honors on vault and earned second-team All-America honors on floor at the 2023 NCAA Championships. The 2023 Academic All-Big 12 First Team member also earned 2022 WCGA Academic All-America honors as a freshman, the same year she was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team.
The 2023 CSC Academic All-America Division I At-Large Teams recognize student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. At-large sports for the CSC Academic All-America program include fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo for both men and women, as well as beach volleyball, bowling, field hockey, and rowing for women, and volleyball and wrestling for men.
To be considered for All-America status, student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% of the team's competitions and hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher. A total of 49 Division I undergraduate and graduate student-athletes were recognized, including 26 honorees with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
