OU Falls To No. 6 Georgia in NCAA Second Round

ATHENS, Ga. - The Oklahoma men's tennis team's season came to a close in Athens following a 4-1 loss against No. 6 Georgia in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
The match opened with a close doubles competition. Georgia's Blake Croyder and Britton Johnston defeated Siphos Montsi and Jordan Hasson 6-3 on court three to get things started. The Bulldogs then clinched the opening point after a top-court 6-3 win from Thomas Paulsell and Ethan Quinn over Baptiste Anselmo and Nathan Han.
Alex Martinez and Justin Schlageter were down 4-3 to Teodor Giusca and Philip Henning on court two when the point was secured.
No. 90 Montsi was 6-4, 2-1 when No. 113 Trent Bryde retired and gave OU the automatic win on court three. Georgia went on to claim the next three courts to win the match. Henning then grabbed the 6-2, 6-2 victory over Hasson at the No. 2 spot. No. 111 Schlageter dropped the court-four battle to No. 106 Croyder after a 6-2, 7-5 loss. To clinch the match, UGA's Miguel Perez Pena took court five 6-4, 6-1 over Han.
When play was halted, No. 99 Martinez was down 6-3, 5-5 to No. 2 Quinn, while Luis Alvarez led Giusca 7-5, 3-0 at the No. 6 spot.
