NORMAN – 2023 Oklahoma women's gymnastics signee Addison Fatta is set to compete for Team USA's five-member squad at the 2023 Senior Pan American Championships held this weekend in Medellín, Colombia.
The women will take the floor starting Saturday at 3:55 p.m. CT with team qualifications and all-around and event finals. The U.S. women are set to compete in Subdivision 3 in the following rotation order: beam, floor, vault and bars. The event concludes with women's team finals on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. CT. Live stream will be available on the
UPAG-PAGU YouTube channel.
A two-time national team member (2021, 2022), Fatta was selected as an alternate to the 2022 Pan American Championships team that captured silver in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last July. In her last international appearance for the U.S., Fatta helped the team finish fourth at the DTB Pokal Mixed Cup in Stuttgart, Germany.
Fatta also enjoyed some individual success internationally in fall 2022 at the Swiss Cup (Nov. 27) and Szombathely World Challenge Cup (Sept. 30-Oct. 2). The Wrightsville, Pa., native represented Team USA alongside OU men's gymnastics alumnus and 2020 Tokyo Olympian Yul Moldauer to become the second American duo to win the 2022 Swiss Cup in Zürich, Switzerland. In Szombathely, Hungary, Fatta won gold on vault and bronze on bars.
On the national scene, Fatta finished second on vault and seventh on floor at the Winter Cup last February in Louisville, Ky. She was also selected to participate at the U.S. Women's World Team Selection Camp in October 2022. Last summer, she finished 10th in the all-around at the 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships and placed fifth on beam and sixth on bars at the 2022 U.S. Classic.
Chosen by her fellow competitors, USA Gymnastics named Fatta the 2022 Sportsperson of the Year for her reputation as a hardworking and kind leader who listens to and supports her peers within the sport. In 2021, Fatta was one of only 16 women invited to take part in the U.S. Olympic Trials, where she finished 11th overall.
Fatta officially signed with Oklahoma on Nov. 9, 2022, as part of its star-studded 2023 recruiting class.
