OKLAHOMA CITY – Future Sooners and members of the 2023 signing class Hannah Scheible and Keira Wells wrapped up their club careers at the 2023 Women's Development Program National Championships near their future home at the Oklahoma City Convention Center.
Scheible won the all-around crown in the Senior C division with a season-best 39.275, placed in the top 10 on all four events and helped Region 5 win the team title in her age division. A Kimball, Mich., native, Scheible earned national event titles with a pair of 9.950s on vault and beam (career high), and tied for fifth on floor (9.650) and seventh on bars (9.725). Scheible's all-around, vault and beam scores were the highest marks at nationals this year. She has earned the national beam title for the past three years (2021, '22, '23).
As one of the top-four all-around gymnasts in the Senior C division, Scheible was named to the Women's 2023 USA Gymnastics Development Program National Team and will be invited to attend a national training camp later in the year. Scheible ends her level 10 career as a three-time Development Program National Team member (2021, '22, '23), seven-time national champion, two-time Nastia Liukin Cup qualifier and 2023 Nastia Liukin Cup vault champion.
Wells placed sixth with an all-around score of 38.600 in the Senior D division. The Augusta, Kan., native also picked up a pair of top-10 event finishes, tied for fifth on beam with a 9.600 and had a sixth-place finish on vault with a 9.825. Wells also tied for 11th on floor (9.550) and 12th on bars (9.625). She closes her level 10 career as a five-time national qualifier and three-time national vault champion (2019, '21, '22).
Scheible and Wells will join the Sooners in the fall of 2023 with their first season of competition in 2024.
