NORMAN — Oklahoma women's basketball head coach
Jennie Baranczyk announced the signing of transfer Lexi Keys from Oklahoma State on Thursday.
Keys, a three-year starter at OSU, arrives in Norman with two years of remaining eligibility. A consensus All-Oklahoma high school prospect from Tahlequah, Okla., she averaged 9.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in her career with the Cowgirls.
"We're ecstatic to add Lexy to our Oklahoma family," Baranczyk said. "Any time we get the opportunity to add one of the top players from Oklahoma, we want to do that. She's a tremendous player and competitor on both sides of the floor, and we know Sooner Nation is going to love cheering her on."
In three seasons in Stillwater, Keys appeared in 88 games and made 71 starts, averaging nearly 30 minutes per contest. She tallied 130 3-pointers for the Cowgirls and was one of nine Big 12 players to post 45 treys, 110 rebounds and 60 assists last season. As a sophomore in 2021-22, she averaged 11.6 points in Big 12 play, and her 39 made 3-pointers in league play were the sixth most in the conference. Her 35 double-digit scoring games were tied for the second most at Oklahoma State over the last three seasons, and her 17 career games with three 3-pointers were OSU's most since 2020. Named to the Big 12's All-Freshman team in 2021, Keys was a two-time Freshman of the Week selection and reached double figures six times that season, including in the NCAA Tournament vs. Stanford.
She is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree, and the 2023 Academic All-Big 12 team has yet to be unveiled.
A two-time basketball state champion at Tahlequah Sequoyah High School, Keys was tabbed as an All-State selection by both the Tulsa World and The Oklahoman. As a senior, she averaged 16.4 points, 4.8 assists, 4.2 steals and 3.6 rebounds en route to an Oklahoman Super 5 selection. The OSSAA Class 3A state tournament MVP as a freshman, she also guided Sequoyah to the 2018 Class 3A softball state championship.
